Myah Maedell Singh is an actor, director, teacher, and textile artist from St. Louis. She earned a Master’s degree and a Bachelor’s degree in English Literature from Washington University in St. Louis, where she was also honored as a member of the Alpha Sigma Lambda National Honor Society. Myah comes from a creative family. Her mother helped start the African American Studies program at the university, and her father was a jazz musician who played with famous artists like Miles Davis. She has acted with many theater groups, including Shakespeare’s Globe in London and the St. Louis Shakespeare Company, and even appeared in the movie “Up in the Air” (2010). Myah started Theatre De La Rue, a group that brings art and theater to communities that need it. Later, she began Theatre De La Rue Textiles, where she makes handmade pillows, quilts, and handbags from beautiful fabrics.
Myah is passionate about teaching and loves to help young people learn about the arts.
